Parking Facilities

 

  • The premises have a car park

Pathways to Facility

 

  • The path to the main entrance is of solid construction – paving and tarmac
  • The path is free from undulations or manhole covers that could cause a person to trip
  • The path is free of obstacles (Boards, vending machines, displays etc.) that could cause a problem
  • The pathway is well lit
  • The route to the main access is clearly identifiable
  • There are no dropped kerbs on the pathway to assist a wheelchair user in accessing the facility

 

Accessible Entrance

 

  • The entrance is free from any obstacles that would hinder wheelchair access

 

Entrance Doors

 

  • There is a large wooden door at the entrance
  • The doorway has a minimum open clearance of 976mm
  • The doorframes are a contrasting colour to the door surround helping a person with visual impairment to determine the door
  • The door is free of all non-essential literature

 

Inner Entrance doors

 

  • The doorway has an open width 871mm
  • The door handles are at an accessible height
  • The door handles contrast with the surround enabling a person with visual impairment to easily identify them
  • There is visual manifestation on the door glazing for the partially blind to see and contrasting with the background seen through the glass in all light conditions.
  • It is possible to have a clear unobstructed view of other people approaching the door

 

Circulation

  • Provisions to wipe excess moisture from feet will allow easy access for a wheelchair user, and not present a tripping hazard
  • The entrance is large enough for a wheelchair user and assistant
  • The floor covering is suitable not to present difficulty for wheelchair users and persons with mobility impairment and free from a high gloss or sheen that could present difficulty for persons with visual impairment
